Different Types of Moving:
Different rules and regulations will apply depending on the type of move you will be making. It is most important that you understand the difference between these types of moves.
Local Moving, means that your new residence will be within the same state, regardless of the number of miles that you are moving. So local moves in New Jersey.
Long Distance Moving, also called Interstate moving, means that your new residence is located in a different state.
International Moving, also called overseas moving, means you are moving out of the contiguous 48 states or to another country.
Additional Services:
We offer additional services for items that need special handling or crating (i.e.: piano; oversize pieces; glass tables; large pictures; excessively heavy pieces; safes; mirrored furniture; statues; etc.) -- your estimator will discuss these items with you. Some items may require third party services such as pool tables, large multi-piece entertainment cabinets, grandfather clocks, Universal gym systems and shrunks.
We can arrange for third party services to remove any mirror or fixture secured directly to the wall. Other services that may require third-party assistance include any electrical, water or gas hook-ups (i.e.: gas or electric dryer; ice makers; chandeliers; ceiling fans, etc.). Movers carry basic tools, screwdrivers, pliers and hammer; third-party services should be arranged in advance. Your estimator can answer questions about third-party services.
Cartons and Packing:
Cartons and packing are offered as an additional service -- ask your estimator or call our office for information and pricing. If you obtain your own cartons for packing, be sure they are strong and sturdy. Do not use cartons that were previously crushed, as they offer no support and will crush again. Use a strong sealing tape, not masking tape. Tape the seams on the top and bottom of the cartons for strength, not across the seam of the box. See our packing tips for more information.
Storage:
We offer storage for your items or will move items to your self-storage. See our storage page for more information.
On Moving Day:
Organization is your KEY TO SUCCESS. Have all packing completed except items that you have arranged to have us pack; Mark all cartons and furniture for each room in which they will be placed in you're new home and have rooms marked likewise. Have a floor plan of where to put furniture in the new home. Leaving a copy on the door of each room would help show the mover where to place the furniture but please be available to tell the movers where to place each item. You or someone you designate will need to be present during the entire move to direct the movers. Due to insurance regulations, customers are prohibited from "Helping" the men with the moving. Please keep children away from the movers and out of the truck. If possible you should arrange for someone to watch young children since the movers will need your attention. Check your residences before the truck leaves to be sure all your belongings have been removed. (Remember the closets, drawers, attic, yard and basement). A return trip will cost you additional charges. Please do not offer any alcoholic beverages to the movers; it is prohibited during working hours but we do request you have water available for them, especially in the warm weather. They also may need to use to bathroom facilities. Do not turn off your utilities or phones and leave a contact phone number and cell phone numbers with the office.
We know that moving can be very stressful, but relax, you're in good hands. The mood you set will affect everyone around you. We provide this overwhelming information to help you better prepare for a smooth transition to your new home. Of course, should you have any questions at any time, please do not hesitate to contact our office.
